Remember that 100 degree day, with 100% humidity? The one where you stayed blissfully inside with your air conditioning and cold lemonades? Well, while you were cool as a cucumber indoors, myself and this beautiful family ate ice cream, jumped, ran, and dodged waves on Plum Island and downtown Newburyport. And lordy be was it ever HOT!

When I was emailing with mom, she mentioned, when I sent her our What To Wear Guide, that kids clothes were a sort of ‘hobby’ for her. What a coincidence! They are an obsession hobby of mine as well. And she didn’t lie…the girls were decked out in everything from Oilily to Paul Frank. All of the girls’ shirts up there are PF, one of my favorite brands. :)

I had them climb up on this lifeguard stand, and a couple minutes after this, all three of the kids dared Dad to jump from the top. Did he? Why yes. Followed by all three of them, haha.

She was a such a happy, happy kid! Full of light and spunk. We shot these at Maudslay estate in Newburyport MA, and while we were walking down to this flower field, she would ask “when are we going to take pictures”? I love a kid who’s ready to take pictures even before we get to the location ;)

We headed down to Plum Island afterwards, where we played chicken with the waves. As you can see, Meili won most of the time.

Meili: 100, Waves: 0.

 

Meili and her little sister, Sienna. S was quite the model, too…in between Meili’s “looks”, when she was changing outfits, Sienna would take her chance and plop right down in front of me and pose, haha. Kids who run towards you and poses? Yes, please!

Meili is with Cameo Kids, and is going to be modeling and acting with them. She’s got ‘it’, that’s for sure!

As a kid, I remember being able to go to bed every night looking forward to something the next day in the summertime. We’d either hit the beach, play in the pool, spend time with mom, or do a multitude of fun things she always had planned for us-crafts, water parks, hikes, Chuck E Cheese, and everything in between. Summer was heaven- one continuous round of sunshine and fun. This session with siblings Julia and Nick reminds me of those blessed warm months- bright, uninterrupted, relaxed, and full of smiles. :)

 

 

Is there anything to say about this session that isn’t said above? Watermelon, hammocks, swings, porches, and smiles- can you even get any more summery? I had so much fun, and by the looks of it, Julia, Nick and family definitely did too! ;)

We did some shots with that lovely tent, too…more to come with those!

Maya is a Cameo Kid I got to hang out with yesterday. She giggled, ran, giggled, and ran some more. That was our session, haha! Isn’t she beautiful?

I don’t usually do black and whites, as you know, but I had to see this one as a moody duotone:

Maya’s brother Leo came along for the session, and one Maya took that brown hat off, he promptly put it on and ran around for the rest of the session giggling in it, haha. Nobody could get it off of his head!

Maya’s dad is from Ethiopia, and his family brings back all sorts of beautiful Ethiopian clothing for Maya and Leo. This is a genuine Ethiopian outfit, that Maya’s mom wanted to see her playing those drums in (also from Ethiopia!)! She was belting out “I’ve been working on the railroad”, haha.
