The February Flu, and Other Exciting News

Oh, I can feel it. This month WILL go down in history as the “February of the Flu”. History books will dramatically chronicle how nobody (nobody!) escaped its decongestant-feuled clutches.

If you’re like me, you’ve been clinging to your bottle of Nyquil for the past week and a half, watching as your loved ones follow you about with a bottle of Lysol and a breathing mask. You feel the love, don’t you?

I have been remiss in my blogging for this reason, and I promise that as soon as everyone’s up and running, we’ll have picture-packed posts (say that three times..) gracing your email inboxes. Until then, some news:

The NMC Newsletter:

Make sure to look for our ad in the upcoming issues of the Newburyport Mother’s Club Newsletter. The NMC is a hugely widespread and lovely group of around 500 families in the Newburyport area, and we’re offering a great session fee discount for members. See the newsletter for details, and if you aren’t a member, check out their website and become one!:

The “Mammarazzi” Workshop:

This summer, Mariah M Photography is also looking forward to running the “Mammarazzi: How to Take Better Pictures of Your Kids” workshop for area mothers! I’m teaming up with the fabulous NMC to make it all happen, but all area families will have the opportunity to sign up. We’ll be covering basic location, lighting, shooting, and all the tricks to making the most ‘difficult’ subjects smile! And, of course, we’ll have an optional shooting time, where you’ll be able to retreive your little ones from our craft/snack time for a bit of practice. I am so excited to be offering this to the community.

Parents’ Groups: If you’d like to book me for a workshop for your group, please contact me for details. A minimum of ten participants must sign up (because I have fabulous gifts and giveaways for all of you!). I will be conducting a limited amount of workshops over 2008’s spring/summer season.

Cameo Kids Modeling Agency:

I recently signed on as a photographer for the Cameo Kids Agency, a kids’ modeling and talent agency located just outside Boston. If you’re a reader from Cameo kids, welcome! I can’t wait to start shooting for your portfolios.

http://www.thecameoagency.com/

Cameo is a traditional agency, and they love to sign kids with great personalities and that “All-American” look. If you’re thinking that your child would love to model or be in front of a camera, check out their website above. They have great information on getting into the business and what it takes for your child to model. You may find me shooting you or your child’s portfolio!

We have a separate pricing and procedures guide for modeling clients, so if you’d like to book me for a portfolio session, please inquire for details.

That’s all the news for now! For those of you with the February Flu, I hope you and your families feel better soon. Check out the NMC Newsletter, get yer friends together for a workshop, and visit Cameo!

Until Next Time,

New 2008 Referral Program

Spring is (almost) here! I know everyone in New England must be sick of the snowstorms that have come every. three. days. by now! I know I am. I’ve been keeping busy with newborn and maternity shoots (more images when I finished proofing), and figured I’d pop in for an update. (Yeah, I “figured I’d pop in”. You must be rolling your eyes, because, hey lady! this is your blog! think about updating it a little more, K? k.) ;)

For those of you who are receiving (or have received) prints this weekend, you’ll notice a new little stack of cards nestled in with your images. These, I’m happy to annouce (cue the dramatic introduction music!) are our brand-spankin NEW 2008 Referral Cards! In addition to beind scrumptiously thick and luxuriously printed, these babies have the power to grant you an unlimited amount of print credit with us- starting at a cool $50.00. That’s right. A FREE fifty bucks.

How it works: When you book a session with me, you’ll receive a stack of cards that say “Referral Rewards” on them. For every friend you give one to that books with me (I must receive a retainer to grant credit to both parties), you AND your friend will receive a $50.00 print credit at the Mariah M Photography Boutique. You have NO LIMIT on the amount of print credit you can earn, and you can choose to save them for a future session or use them on any of your current ones.

How cool is that? Just by referring your friends to me, you’ve got an extra $50.00 to spend in our store. Not to mention the fact that you’re practically GIVING them $50.00. Way to earn the brownie points with your friends and family! Imagine the love coming full circle- when one of your referred friends comes back and hands you a card, too!

And since posts are boring without pictures:

An example of our custom newborn “details” collages. These look beautiful on nursery walls and as canvases. I would hang this on my wall if I could!

I’ll sign off for now, and if you have any questions or would like more information on the 2008 Referral Program, please feel free to contact me at:
