cookouts, concerts, and summertime

My friends and I got together this past Thursday for a (long overdue) meetup at Castle Hill in Ipswich, which some of you might remember from that Jordan’s Furniture commercial (with the lady on the couch with the rolling hills in the background? maybe?). The place would make any photographer positively giddy at how gorgeous it is, and, ask my friends, I was wayy more than giddy, haha.

The estate winds down from a 29 bedroom mansion through ruins of Italian gardens to the gorgeous Crane’s Beach. Mossy granite, vine-covered sculptures, hedged pathways and gorgeous gardens crop up unexpectedly every turn you make. If anyone is in the North Shore area and would like a portrait session (half on the estate and half on the beach), I would definitely throw in a discount.

We went down to the beach just as sunset hurled stunning, sparkling light onto everything. Here are some images from the night:

We ended the weekend with a mother-daughter cookout. My friends’ moms and mine had formed a "care package group" when we all left for college, and have continued the tradition of sending us monthly care packages since then. The care packagees and their moms all gathered for a pool and cookout party, and gossiped like old friends. It’s nice to slow down. I don’t think anything says summer more than that- good friends, good wine, good conversation, and nowhere to go but where you are.
